Community
Engaging in community ministry is one way the people of St. Matthew’s put their faith into action. So central is this to our mission, we have written it into our Church constitution:...this congregation as a part of the Church shall serve in response to God’s love to meet human needs, caring for the sick and aged, advocating dignity and justice for all people, working for peace and reconciliation among the nations, and standing with the poor and powerless, and committing itself to their needs. (Art. IV, Sec. 2d)
In 2000, St. Matthew’s expanded its commitment to serve others by opening the Community Center. Through this facility, the Center offers programs and special projects that focus on bringing positive change in our community.
