
Acolyte Training
Acolytes are young members of St. Matthew's who perform ceremonial duties by serving as candle lighters, crucifers, torch bearers, book bearers, and banner bearers. As many as eleven acolytes are needed for the important festival Sundays.The Order of St. Matthew is designed to recognize and honor outstanding acolytes for their service and commitment. The Order is open to all acolytes who have been trained in proper procedures and have demonstrated their willingness to serve and help fellow acolytes. Recipients receive a framed certificate and a special cross to wear when they are robed.
